The owners of this turn-of-the century home wanted an updated exterior that honoured the style and period of the house, designed by Francis Rattenbury. They had worked with Flintstones before and trusted them to take on the enormous yard, which was overlooked, run down and underused.
A full exterior hardscape was designed using granite, a material that was common at the time. By adding short flights of stairs and tired masonry, Flintstones was able to rationalize the property’s challenging topographic changes and slopes — creating new garden spaces and additional planting areas for landscaping. Clear boundaries were created between neighbouring properties with additional fencing and planting. Stairs were added from the kitchen to create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, allowing the owners to easily enjoy their beautiful new outdoor living space with ease.
