Before
The homeowners felt the existing kitchen wasn’t working well for them. The layout was not thoughtfully considered, lacked a natural flow and was outdated. Neither the kitchen or the bathrooms felt comfortable or well equipped for daily use.
Project Description:
This home renovation focused on a total redesign of the kitchen and bathrooms – a home’s most well-used spaces. With a focus on natural finishes and a contemporary look, the new design took into account both aesthetics and functionality.
Project Scope:
Location: Gordon Head
The homeowners felt the existing kitchen wasn’t working well for them. The layout was not thoughtfully considered, lacked a natural flow and was outdated. Neither the kitchen or the bathrooms felt comfortable or well equipped for daily use.
The design addressed the homeowners’ space requirements and the aesthetic qualities they were looking for as well. The kitchen was re-configured for better flow by opening up a wall, balancing countertop space with well-placed appliances, and maximizing cupboard space through height and use of drawers. To keep a similar style through the home the bathrooms used the same cabinetry but with their own colour palettes.
The home’s new look is unified by a consistent use of materials and finishes throughout the newly renovated rooms with stainless steel fixtures and handles, wood cabinetry and grayscale palette. The homeowner’s style stands out in the choice of patterns and tiling applications including a statement splashback in the kitchen, hexagonal tiles in the bathroom alongside rectangular wall and floor tiles.
