An architecturally designed West Coast modern home overlooking Tod Inlet
Perched high atop the spectacular Tod Inlet, this custom home is designed to take full advantage of the site, framing views from the ocean below to the highest point of the Malahat and beyond. The building, which showcases wood for a natural feel, combines concrete foundations, floors and hardscaping with exposed steel features. Features of this home include an elevator between floors, arched and exposed beams and extensive windows.
This stunning home was designed by Blue Sky Architecture in their distinctly West Coast modern style. The expansive and undulating shapes of the house itself mimic nature and minimize the discord between inside and out. A generous wall of windows makes the surroundings centre stage in this home, with the airy, open-plan layout spaced over tiered floors stacked against the site’s steep incline.
The landscaping and hardscaping were designed by Jonathan Craggs, seamlessly tying together the home and the site. Both the architects and Cragg are united in their sensitivity to the natural surroundings.

The topography of this site — a cliff-like slope from the top of the property down to Saanich Inlet — required skillful execution in both design and build. The excavations were set on the cliff after a successful demolition of the pre-existing home.
